View Files In Linux/Windows
I have a bunch of text files that currently reside on a red hat linux machine. I'd like to zip them up and copy them to a windows machine. I'm not sure about how to do this though since I believe zipping files up creates a totally different format that will be unreadable on windows. Is there any way to do this? These are just text files.

Winzip 8.0 on XP can read .gz files from unix just fine.

I think Zip has an option to allow user to extract files from a zip archive with DOS end-of-line even though the package was created with Unix EOL. Saw this option in Linux unzip. I think WinZip has a similar option.

I just use something like http://crimsoneditor.com/ to open them - it reads the UNIX line fine, and re-writes it back.

view remote linux desktop on my windows machine

Hi, is there anyway i can view a remote linux desktop on my windows desktop? i am aware that X11 can see 'certain screens'.
