OK, Nick's babies! No registry entries to worry about. FreeTDS, DataDirect or ??? drivers?

You took all the same files to a new host and unixodbc isql did not connect?

Maybe SQL Server has an additional allowed hosts list like MySQL?

I do not follow SQL Server very closely, as my need is occasional and their versions are so incompatible in the advanced features.

I installed an EasySoft odbc driver and the unixodbc driver manager on the AIX box.

And you copied over all the config files? Compare them, to see if something modified them. They should be about the same.

i have about 3500 hosts/devices which i monitor. i monitor them from one host. we'll call this one host HOSTA. Originaly someone from our security team would add an system user and password to the otherwise finished script and encrypt the whole thing.
