best way of using wget command?
Dear all,

I would like to use the wget command to download on my laptop some free e-books for then being able to read them when I am off the internet.
could you please let me know, what is the best of doing that?
Let's say, I want download the bible that can be found here:
The Project Gutenberg eBook of The Old Testament Of The King James Version Of The Bible.
Is the best way of doing so, something like:
wget -m The Project Gutenberg eBook of The Old Testament Of The King James Version Of The Bible. ???

Seeing how the link you included to the Bible is just an HTML file, you could just do a SAVE AS to your HD and open up the file in your web browser for viewing offline.

Sure,
Sorry I realized my example is not a good one...
I would like to get some well structured on line free IT books like the rhel documentation for instance.
How do I download the HTML rhel doc using wget?

I'd like to point out a few useful keys I had used when the connection was not stable
-t to specify retries
-c to continue download where it was aborted before
as example:

I can trigger the servlet using wget but when servlet is not responding this command retries automatically until it get the positive response from the server. 2 questions regarding the WGET command

I'm using the "wget" command to get the date from Yahoo.com. So this is what I use on Solaris: /usr/sfw/bin/wget --timeout=3 -S Yahoo! This works well when my computer is linked to the Net. But when it's not, this command just hangs. I thought putting the timemout = 3 will make this... (2 Replies)
