How about this:
Code:
egrep "Name|Prompt|Default|Param" file

# 9
Old 06-12-2012
That command is listing out the whole content of the file ....
Where as I need to print only the line with the below pattern ...
Name "a"
Prompt "b"
Default "c"
ParamType "0"
ParamLength "0"
ParamScale "0"

---------- Post updated at 04:55 AM ---------- Previous update was at 04:33 AM ----------

The below command is returning the output ..
Code:
nawk '{if ($1=="Name" || $1=="Prompt" || $1=="Default" || $1=="ParamType" || $1=="ParamLength" || $1=="ParamScale" ) print $1,$2 }'

But it is listing all the lines which is having any of the above parameters ....

I need to list only the lines which has these parameters one after the other .
Like below

Code:
Name ""
Prompt ""
Default ""
ParamType ""
ParamLength ""
ParamScale ""

Could you please provide a counter-example, where the code provided to you does NOT work as expected? For all the examples given by you it works and it is hard to conceive how it should be changed as we do not see your complete data like you do.

I hope this helps.
