Problem with X11 Forwarding

Hello. I installed a Debian box, and its installed remotely. I need to boot up iceweasel from there to do a quick test.

I log on using:

Code:
ssh root@<IP> -X

I have modified the /etc/ssh/sshd_config file, and added the X11Forwarding yes flag

And yet I still get:

Code:
Error: cannot open display: :0

When I try to open iceweasel from the remote server.

How else can I attack this problem? Thanks!

What does the DISPLAY variable get set to on the remote side?
# 3
Old 05-28-2012
Code:
root@<IP>:~# echo $DISPLAY

Result:

Code:
:0

The value of DISPLAY may be getting overridden, perhaps by a login script or somesuch.

I really don't have any custom login scripts...

The box has little things installed.

It didn't have gnome. I tried installing gnome... I'm still getting the error.

Are you sure of your syntax?

I would type: ssh -X root@<IP> ...
