i have the acceptfile as

Code:
your document
ur document
your doc
ur doc

the reject file as
Code:
my document
my doc

now no matter how much i change my data I do get 147 rows that do not contain the word document at all or any other row before the last.
on my previous run which was correct, I got about 600 rows and they were right

Please post your script too. Also please post some of your lines which should have been accepted, but weren't.

Without those things, I'm left making wild guesses.

One wild guess: Do you need it to be case insensitive?

Another thing: 'ur doc' and 'ur document' are redundant. Anything that matches 'ur document' will also match 'ur doc' since grep searches anywhere in the line.

i have a problem convering xml to java and got the help on the awk file
https://www.unix.com/unix-dummies-que...fic-lines.html

so i create that and convert the xml to txt
then i create my accept and reject files and i do the followings

Code:
cat acceptfile.txt
cat rejectfile.txt
grep -F -f acceptfile.txt mainfile.txt | grep -v -F -f rejectfile01.txt > resultsfile.txt

the line that has to be picked up and its not is

3454535 1 56762462346 in your documents you mentioned ...
4546456 2 78967867678 ur documents are not complete

i have done the same 2 days ago and it works but on another computer

Is this other computer a different system than your original one? Not all versions of grep have -f or -F.
