Diff shows only the same content
Hi All,

Sorry this might be real dummy question. I have been searching from internet and diff manual, but not found any answer
.
By using diff command, how do we display the same content only (from both 2 files in 2 coloumns).
Here is the diff -y output

How to display the 3rd and 4th record only instead of all record.

you don't use diff, try grep -f
# 3

Of the "comm" command.

ls -l shows a @ after permissions, why?

As in >ls -l *.name -rw-r--r-- 1 c2s ... file0.name -rw-r--r-- 1 c2s ... file1.name -rw-r--r--@ 1 c2s ... file2.name -rw-r--r--@ 1 c2s ... file3.name As the example shows, it only happens for some files. What does the @ mean? The @ is not described in the man page for ls (3 Replies)

Simulate SVN diff using plain diff

Hi, svn diff does not work very well with 2 local folders, so I am trying to do this diff using diff locally. since there's a bunch of meta files in an svn directory, I want to do a diff that excludes everything EXCEPT *.java files. there seems to be only an --exclude option, so I'm not sure...
