Hey people I am trying to installed red hat 9.0 on my laptop dell inspiron 1000
but it seem that after the installation the video card fail to work and I got an error.
I look for the video card driver is a SiS 650 and I couldn't find it for linux.. any suggestion I really wanna Installed red hat 9.0

I could do red hat fedora 3 but I really wanna do red had 9.0 any one..thanx...

Until you are able to find a driver that will work. try just setting it up as a generic graphics card. That will also give you around a 1028x768 resolution.

Also how did you find the graphics card out? I know with dell sometimes their cards have a different chipset/driver that are needed to run them correctly.

But a generic setup for the graphics should be enough to start you off until you find a suitable driver.


Also if your new to Linux there is no need for reinstalling RH (Red Hat) you can boot the system up using the CD or into a text mode (depending how you completed the setup if you can log into text mode) then you can change the graphics configuration using xconfigurator, just type xconfig then hit tab that should complete the command incase it has changed since I've last used RH.

if you have to boot off the CD, boot into resuce mode, then you have to mount the HDD partitions.
