Columnate multiple files in one .tab file
Hi all !

Just a rookie question (not for me apparently !)

I have file1.tab:
Code:
1
2
3
4
5

and file2.tab:
Code:
a
b
c
d
e

and I would like to obtain file3.tab:
Code:
file1 file2
1     a
2     b
3     c
4     d
5     e

I tried the pr and column commands but the output file looked terrible !

Thank you guys for your help !

I didn't manage with the join command.

The paste command works perfectly, except that I need the header for each columns which are he name of the file (without the extension ".tab").

I keep searching again !
