sftp with specified port #

how can i sftp with a specified port# (port # 10022).

i tried sftp hostname:10022 - did not work
i tried sftp -P 10022 hostname - did not work

thanks in advance.

It will only work if:
1) port is free (or unused...)
2) both machines are configured to use that port...

Is this the case?

yes, both port 10022 opens on both ends. i just want to confirm my sfty syntax is correct.

once again - YourMileageMayVary - check your 'man sftp' and 'man ssh_config' for any reference of 'port'.

try sftp -oPort=10022 username@servername
BTW whcih SSH you are uisng? Open or Tectia?

i want to kill a tcp connection by killing its pid with netstat -an i got the tcp ip connection on port 5914 but when i type ps -a or ps-e there is not such process running on port 5914 is it possible that because i do not log on with proper user account i can not see that process running?
