CPU & Memory how to get specific line
if i have data :
Code:
location 

cairo 
zone = 200 
line y = 1
number y = 4
map y = 5 

london 
zone = 2001 
line y = 2
number y = 4
map y = 5 

paris
zone  = 200
line y = 3
number y = 4
map y = 5 

location

cairo 
zone = 200
line y = 1a
number y = 4
map y = 5 

location 

london
zone = 201
line y = 1b
number y = 4
map y = 5 

cairo 
zone = 200
line y = 2b
number y = 4
map y = 5

i want to get the line y under London for every location

output file >>

I don't understand where you're getting that "null".

Code:
$ cat london.awk 

BEGIN { RS=""; FS="\n" }
$1 == "london" {

        for(N=2; N<=NF; N++)
        if($N ~ /line y/)
        {
                split($N, A, "=");
                print A[2];
                FOUND=1;
                break;
        }
}

$ awk -f london.awk  < london

thanks alot Smilie the null here if london is not found under location

i have 50 location and 35 london
the output must be 50 record for london not found prints null in its place to determine ( for example there is no null in the location 29 ) got it Smilie
