UNIX for Dummies Questions & Answers

I cannot get anything to go to my log. This is what i see on my screen when i run my korn shell.

cd ok, cwd=/export/home/tsp_inst/TSP
pget: /nas4/edata/tsp/rawdata/test2.gz: File exists

But i cant get it to write it to my log.

cd /this/is/my/newdirectory
lftp -e 'pget -c -n 4 test2.gz; exit' 'sftp://username:04AlS0CXR@ipaddress/export/home/tsp_inst/TSP/'
LOG_DIR=/my/log/dir
export date=`date +"%y%m%d_%H%M"`
log_name=`basename $0`.${date}.log
log_file="${LOG_DIR}/${log_name}"
exec > ${log_file} 2>&1

Is this your script? If so, then you need to set the log_file variable and execute the exec before running any commands that you wish logged in the file. Nothing is going to the file, because no commands are executed after your exec.

If this isn't your script, it would be helpful if you would post it.
