Duplicate blocks in an inode

I have 2 duplicate blocks in an inode and I want to get rid of one of them so that I can get into my pc. The message I get is Multiply-claimed block(s) in inode 5997500: 12690101 12690101. All help is appreciated. Thanks

Code:
#fsck (or one of its variants should do the job)
man -k fsck

Duplicate blocks

I'm sorry but I am a newbie and don't understand. Do I just type #fsck?

No, you do not just type #fsck.

You become root first and then type "fsck" followed by the enter key. You also need to have the file system that is reporting the error unmounted before using the fsck command on it.

How do you unmount the file system?

by typing:
Code:
umount /<the mount point>

Thanks very much. Being a newbie sure is taxing. I'm just glad there is a forum like this. Thanks again.
