I just tested the following
ftp servername (or IP)
It then asks for a user ID and Password

From what you posted you are not being prompted for either? My guess that WinSCP is passing through a Username and Password behind the scenes. I know that Filezilla does the same thing once you've entered it in once it will cache the information.

Hope this helps

The problem is most UNIX our days secure their systems by not allowing standard FTP anymore...you must use sftp or ssh ( here it seems you could give a try using scp...)

FTP is not SCP.

If you need something scriptable for SCP, try pscp. It can take a password on the commandline instead of asking for one later.

SCp is scriptable but you need to setup Host keys first.

Code:
## Setup Aiuthorized keys
mkdir .ssh && touch known_hosts

scp id_rsa.pub root@myhost:/var/root/.ssh/authorized_keys

then you can just script your scp without prompt.
