You shouldn't go into /opt/hlr/trans/exp/expDB. It's not a directory, it's a script. That's why I asked to paste that exact command output.
It should give output like:

$ file /home/sulti/poisson.py 
/home/sulti/poisson.py: a /usr/bin/python script text executable

----

Unless 'file' command does something different on Sun OS... What's exact OS distribution on that machine?

Maybe the simpliest way to see it will be to display it on screen:

cat /opt/hlr/trans/exp/expDB

If cat isn't available try:

vi /opt/hlr/trans/exp/expDB

Then, if You can, paste it somewhere where I could read it Smilie eg Copy and Paste to Anywhere, unless it's not a very big script, then paste it here.

Ok, there's a file _expDB, so try:

cat /opt/hlr/trans/exp/_expDB

That's what I was afraid.. Try to run

/opt/hlr/trans/exp/expDB --help

to see if it has some commandline options...

hi, I run a .sh file using crontab. I need to know the path of the file . Previously when I run the file alone , i used "pwd" but now when using crontab it gives the temp directory of the file. Is there any way I can find the absolute path of the file when i execute it ? Regards, Ranga (7 Replies)
