#$ -cwd #what does this mean?

#$ -cwd #what does this mean?

When I want to specify the current working directory (-cwd) why do I need a # followed by a $? What does the combo of #$ do? Thanks.

How do you use it? give us an example. I don't think there is any special variable in the shell that maps to #$. So tell us what shell you are using as well.
