my results for netstat -t are as foillows....

[root@larry cody]# netstat -t
Active Internet connections (w/o servers)
Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State
tcp 0 0 192.168.1.4:32782 baym-cs250.msgr.ho:1863 ESTABLISHED
tcp 0 1 192.168.1.4:32817 chi.bsp.kpn.be:http SYN_SENT
tcp 1 0 larry.linbox:32775 larry.linbox:ipp CLOSE_WAIT
tcp 0 0 192.168.1.4:32816 64.233.167.99:http ESTABLISHED

Is this good? what does it all mean?

Try using the command;

ps -aux | grep httpd

Check if httpd is loaded. Look for a line similar to;

www 28064 0.0 4.5 4716 4128 ?? I 4:14PM 0:00.02 /usr/local/sbin/httpd -k start -DS

If you only see the line with grep httpd, then Apache is not loaded.

Just out of curiosity, I see a lot of people here use Linux IPTables as their firewall. Anyone here use something else like OpenBSD PF or *BSD IPF, IPFW?
