I don't have any idea what could be keeping it from sending to addresses that are hosted with my isp(centurylink.net or centurytel.net). All of our business e-mails are centurytel.net addresses.

I have a small business server 2003 that I send various e-mail reports from on a nightly basis. I receive e-mail from it fine. Its from address is <sscdata.smithsadvantage.local@66-112-13-33.stat.centurytel.net>.

I hope your shoulder gets better. What do you use to keep up with your home finances?

I have a really bad BofA free product MYM, but I want to port my data to GnuCash, which looks great!

That's a lot of stuff on top of the domain, so maybe it depends on host dns. Email headers do tell you the IP, forward name, reverse lookup name in braces of servers moving the mail. Is your resolv.conf using the same DNS server?

Some people forward all their mail to one of their servers or two, so all leaving email can he held there during outages and all email is seen coming from there. However, it is usually not that hard to get mail to leave. Just look to the right of the @ and see if it is a host or MX.

This is an e-mail to me from a company that supports an inventory program on our unix box:

Your resolv.conf seems to be working perfectly. Remember, it is used not
just for mail, but any IP address lookup. It currently says

Check local (this machine), then use this nameserver (ip.address).

The fact that I can get emails, plus the fact that you can ping external
sites *by name*, like Yahoo! Ireland, means that resolv.conf is properly
configured.

Any ideas on what might be going on here?

Thanks,

OK, give me one unsendable @.......

A munged up sendmail.cf can do anything, but usually not selectively. That is where sendmail -bt comes in.
