Multiple groups in directory / file permissions

Hi

I need to permit one group to have r-x permissions on all files in a directory and another group to have just read access, im confused how to do this as if i set the 'Other' permission class as read access then all users will have access to them.

So basically i have a directory which the owner should have rwx and one group to have r-x and one group to have r-- and other users should have no access.

Is this possible in AIX?

Thanks

Do not make confusion on --x permission between a directory and a file:
In the case of file, we are talking of execute permission.
In the case of directory, its the permission to traverse the directory... and so removing it disallow the reading of its content...
So to answer your request, to me a r-- on a directory means cannot read its content and should be used after a lot of thinking...and in your case makes no sense...
So your request is almost solved...
r-x on a directory means you can read its content but are not allowed to change it (like adding a new file) and is independent of file permissions

This should be achievable with ACLs but I have no idea about their support on AIX filesystems. You might want to ask on the AIX specific forum.
