Code:

-e script, --expression=script
              add the script to the commands to be executed

you must use `-e` after every sed command.
if you dont use this paramter sed will try as inputfile and give error.

Code:

sed -e '2,$!d' -e '$d' filename

Code:

sed -e '1d' -e '$d' filename

and you can group all these with {}

Code:

sed -e {'1d;$d'} filename

Code:

sed -e {'2,$!d;$d'} filename

Code:

sed -e '{2,$!d;$d}' filename

or you can dont use if you have only one command because sed assumes -e parameter as default

Code:

sed '{2,$!d;$d}' filename

Code:

sed {'1d;$d'} filename
