Question Help on linux

Hi all,I am new to Linux..Today is my first day in this forum.
I want to know which distribution of Linux is better for programming like C,C++,Java and Oracle Database..

I have Ubuntu 10.10 installed(4 days back),but many of the Oracle documentations say that Ubuntu is not supported distribution for oracle products..

can someone kindly give me a better advice(Ubuntu or Red Hat) so that my programming experience gets better with Linux
