Rename them first using _ instead of whitespace for example.
(using whitespace in file name is not a good habit imo)

Hmm, using blank spaces indeed is not. Yet it's used to pull dir lists from users, and then to 'process' them in excel (a mock-up) to show how the dirs should be organized and what metadata should be applied.

In other words, I do not 'own' the dirs and in fact can't replace all blank spaces. Is there no solution to it then?

no, I meant the output of 'find . -ls' that is processed in the wrong manner....
