Path of file?

Hi
I need to find the path of a file which starts "temp"(name of file) in a directory /var/log.
Please tell me command here.
The path should contain that filename at end.
For eg: /var/log/temp-nfs.11.34.gz this is the output i am expecting.
The output should be stored in a variable so that i use in the program ahead.
(Assume that there is only one file starting with temp(name) in that directory )
