UNIX for Dummies Questions & Answers

Hi,
I am just writing a program to check a value in the given array.

The program expects a parameter which is checked against the array list and if it found then a variable is set else should exist saying the value does is not found in the array.kindly help me.

Please show
1) your data
2) what you have done so far in attempting to solve this
3) desired output

I have created an array like

set -A list_arr red blue green orange

and now i have the parameter for the program

check_list= $1

if the user run the program with red as the input parameter it should set a variable

found_in=check_$check_list( i.e found_in=check_orange)

and if the user enter anything not in the array like black the script need to echo saying that it is not a valid input

I don't have A as an option for my Set, but I would guess you could do something like:

echo "$list_arr" |grep "$1" 
if [ $? -eq 0 ]; then
Color_Match=yes
else
Color_Match=no
fi

${list_acquirer[*]}


echo "${list_acquirer[*]}" |grep "$1"
if [ $? -eq 0 ]; then
Color_Match=yes
else
Color_Match=no
fi
