Why are you suddenly trying to 'cat' the files?
Not sure that I understand what you are doing.
Did my solution to find/select files work and give you a listing?
Let me explain a bit, for you and future readers:
Since the . character has special meaning at times, I changed it to a ~ which does not occur often in text.
Then, using your delimiter of / I looked at the last field on the line.
The match command returns the position of character searched; in this case the ~. If no match, then returns a 0.
Thus, I only am successful if I return a 0 meaning no extensions on filenames.
I lastly change the ~ back to the initial . characters.
Voila, done.
