UNIX for Dummies Questions & Answers

i have a file called Missing Images Report.txt--it is on my desktop on my Mac
using a terminal when i ls my desktop it shows up
when i cat Missing Images Report.txt i get error file not found. The file was created by a program on my mac.
i have ( as newbee and worse as newbee tried emacs--pico is not available) tried vi file.txt but it just recreates the file name but not contents
i am assuming although it says it is a text file unix does not recognize it--any ideas how i can say recreate this file so unix can recognize it--i need to use this list to delete files in my hme directory

If a filename contains whitespaces (like space, tab, ...) you'll have to either escape them using backslashes, or quote the filename. Try emacs 'Missing Images Report.txt'

what i wound up doing is changing the name to mydata
then cat mydata worked perfect

cat Missing\ Images\ Report.txt

i figured something was wrong with my code as i gor errors
cat missing no such file
cat images no such file

etc

i then figured to change the file name to mydata,txt
cat mydata.txt worked perfect

there is a agida price to pay for learing unix but it is worth it
