Copy directory tree with files

Iam in the process of copying a directory with thousands of directories and files into a new directory.

I need to preserve permissions, owner, group, date and timestamps, everything.

Iam using AIX and would need help of writing the command whether it is cp-RP or cpio.

Apprecaite your help.

Thanks

Code:

cp -rp top_dir_or_dirs_I_want_copied dir_I_want_it_or_them_copied_into

but this does not copy symbolic links in some systems. If that is a concern, try "cpio -p".

These more general cases of cpio move them anywhere; it's like there is an echo in here, I swear: https://www.unix.com/shell-programmin...r-another.html
