Shell Diferrence
Hi I'm new to Unix, we're using HP-UX 11.
What are the difference of Korn, C, Bourne shells? And how would I know if what shell my unix is?

When you log into your system, type the following echo $SHELL What does it return? You can also look at the file /etc/passwd. Find the entry that corresponds to your userid. Your information will be contained on one line, each field is separated by a colon. What does the 7th field say? This field defines your default shell.

More than likely you are using either the Korn shell (ksh) or the Bourne shell (sh)

HP-UX uses the posix shell by default, but also comes with ksh, csh, keysh, etc. See "man sh" for details.

Hi google, when I type echo $SHELL, no information appears. When I type "env" there is one line that says SHELL=/usr/bin/sh, could that be the posix that Ygor mentioneeeeed, coz in man sh, it was the path given under posix while for bourne shell it /usr/bin/old/sh.
