Windows Server 2k3 vs. Unix

Are there any major differences in performance?
Does any large corperation actually use Windows Server software instead of Unix for massive production jobs?

i.e., could Amazon run their website on Win2k3 and IIS instead of Unix (and whatever web server they use)?

Generally you canīt compare Windows and Unix.
From the first time on, UNIX was concepted as a Server OS.
Windows is an Personal COmputer OS . Microsoft just added some server features to windows server edition.

Windows = Singleuser, "Multitasking"

UNIX = Multiuser, Multitasking

As an Webserver I would prefer a Sun UltraSPARC box running Solaris (8 or 9) or you get an (Dual-CPU) x86 Linux Box running Debian.
