assume date is Jun 01, 2010, i.e., 201006010000 -> 201006012359
Code:
find_em()
{
     #usage find_em dirname
     find $1 -type f  \( -newer dummy -a ! - newer dummy1 \) -exec ls -l {} \;
}
touch -t 201006010000  dummy
touch -t 201006012359  dummy1
# list the files
find_em /path/to/files
# count the files
find_em /path/to/files | wc -l
