how to get a line which is starting with a word with specific number of characters using grep
SUPPOSE MY FILE CONTENTS ARE:
.................................................
Code:
scott manager india
smith clerk china
sam king usa
..............................................
I want to get all lines which are starting with "s" and has exactly five characters in size (including s)
Please , I want it to be using metacharacters only ...like i have tried using
Code:
$grep -w "^s......*" filename
but i'm not able to understand it.
And the problem with the above one is it matches characters which has minimum of five characters

i have this line of code that looks for the same file if it is currently running and returns the count.
`ps -eaf -o args | grep -i sfs_pcard_load_file.ksh | grep -v grep | wc -l`
basically it is assigned to a variable
