ASCII file printing staggered lines
I am trying to print a simple ascii file but it comes out as a staggered output. I know there's a simple solution but can't remember it, am a little rusty.

eg. a file that look like

Code:
  aa
  bbb
  cccc

would print out like
Code:
  aa
    bbb
      ccccc

Any pointers would be appreciated.

I can't see any difference between the first data and the second data(except the extra 'c', which I'm guessing is a typo?). Try putting them in code tags, which should preserve spacing: [ code ] stuff [ /code ] without the extra spaces in the tags.

Sorry. the output from the printer show up like below. The "-" represent a whitespace since this post seems to trim the whitespaces. It's like it was tabbed before each line. Again, Pls ignore the "-". I put them to show the spaces. .

Code:
   aa
          bbb
                  ccccc

From your description, this sounds like stair-stepping. That's just CR/LF translation - you are sending a Unix file with only NL (LF) to a printer that wants CR/NL.

Most printers can be set to do this - either in their firmware or by sending an escape code. If not, translate the file with "xtod" or whatever your unspecified Unix/Linux has.

Again, use code tags! That's what they're there for, they preserve spacing and don't substitue smilies. Quote my post to see how I did this:
