Against what? The 15th column in file a.dat?

No not lik that...i should compare mb against 12th column of a.dat & Ms is against 16th column of a.dat.

You shoud change:

Code:
/Mw\s*=\s*([\d.]+)/

to

Code:
/mb\s*=\s*([\d.]+)/

and:

Code:
s/((?:\S+\s+){14})(\S+)/

to

Code:
s/((?:\S+\s+){11})(\S+)/

Note: 11 refers to the 12th field (Perl counts from 0).
