YES!!! I actually got something to work! Not the thing I wanted (still the error), but I got something!!!! Sad thing is, I don't know how to run it. The name is xmms-shlibs. I got it from Fink. It's supposed to be a multimedia player for the X Window System. I have X11, XDarwin and OroborOSX-v0.9 so I am okay with X Windows Smilie
I just need to run it. That would be... well... helpful.

Okay, so this war-0.0.1bb.tar.gz file, according to the readme, is simply a library for use with SDL, which I assume is this: http://www.libsdl.org/index.php

Norsk asked if you had checked the vendor's site. Does their Frequently Asked Questions: MacOS X page have anything that'll help you?

See if this thread, Cant compile SDL programs, SDL version 1.2.0 not found, helps out ... I found a few hits on google.

I don't even see a version 1.1.1 of SDL on their website. But if you downloaded SDL, unzipped it to a directory (which was most likely called sdl-1.1.1, went inside the directory, and made sure a configure file exists (it should), then typing ./configure at a prompt when your current directory is sdl-1.1.1 should not result in:
Quote:
I try to install SDL, but it says, "-bash: ./configure: No such file or directory" when I configure it.
It should at least have found it...

my guess would be that you did not change directories after you unpacked the archive. after you execute tar to unzip the file, you must use the cd command to change into the newly created directory. there you can list the directory contents (ls) and see if configure exists.

Heh... the SDL I got was a "Develop" version. Hey, it pays to check twice! So I donloaded version 1.2.6 and HEY(!) IT WORKS!!! Thanks. Now on to War (I hope a great game...).

P.S.
You guys are REALLY helpful. You ROCK Smilie

Okay. SDL installed corectly, BUT War cannot configure. It says that SDL version 1.1.1 is not found. GAH!!!

I was looking throught the "configure" file for that War file you downloaded. The error message comes from this line of code:
Code:
{ echo "configure: error: *** SDL version $SDL_VERSION not found!" 1>&2; exit 1; }

Something to try:

Change into the directory you installed the War files in and open up the "configure" file. Search for the line:
Code:
SDL_VERSION=1.1.1

Change this line to SDL_VERSION=1.2.6

Run the configure file again and see what happens.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh! Now it's saying SDL version 1.2.6 is not found AND I DID INSTALL IT!!!!! Oh, it did go farther. Thanks Smilie
