Please Help I Can't Install Unix On My Machine

Hi everybody; How are you?

I have a machine with these components

motherboard Gigabyet

processor Intel

RAM Kingstone 1GB

HDD Westerndigital 160GB

DVD ASUS

I use this machine for labs, I was running WinXP

I am now taking one of Sun's exams, I formated the HDD and get Solaris 10 OS, burned it on a DVD and actually I tried the DVD on my laptop and on VMware, it worked so well, but I couldn't in any way to install the system on my PC. I tried many things with my hard disk but nothing worked for me.

1- Is it something from the hard?
2- Is it something with the BIOS?
3- Is it file system I should format the hard with?

I forget to say that when i direct the system to boot from the CDROM, there is a message appear to me "Missing Operating System", but I am very sure that my DVD is bootable.

I am looking forward for your help.

Thanks in advance.

The DVD may not be bootable; did you just copy the .iso file to the dvd, as a data file, instead doing an image copy.
If you put the dvd in an XP system, you should not see a single .iso file on it.

First of all thanks for jgt and robsonde for their cooperation.

Second I got another Solaris DVD, burned it on a low speed, and it booted with me very well.

So I concluded that the problem was one of two things:
1- I have burned the first DVD on high speed, while the DVDROM which I boot from couldn't support this high speed burned DVD.
2- A problem in the first DVD booting files.

Thanks again and I will keep you posted with my new problems and conclusions in the new movie " Installing Solaris 10 "
