Data Sun Server: loop while booting
Hello Everyone,


First: English is not my native language, sorry.
I was given today on the work of a SUN Enterprse 220r, then I was going to install Debian-sparc, but the server remains in the boot process in a loop of the Fork interpreter depends (begin to load with power-up) starts the program automatically, list the scsi devices an then it reset. So that the server is constantly resetting before it boot from cdrom or hard disc. I am attached to the RS232 console, because no video card is installed. Apparently, the OpenBoot eeprom must be reset, on a Sun keyboard I had to press stop-N for this, but the problem ist, I have none.
Can anyone tell me if there is a way to send a Stop-N via RS232 or reset the eeprom somehow different?

Is there a particular reason for going for Debian for SPARC rather than freely downloadable (but not freely supported of Course) Solaris 10 from Solaris Operating System - Get Solaris 10 ?

Hi,

I've <ctrl>+<break> already tried, it wont stop the loop, ~# IŽll try tomorrow. I'd like to use Debian becaue I don't have any experience with Solaris.

Edit: What's the consequence of the ~#?

~# should do the same as a <STOP>+<A> on s Sun Keyboard, make sure the keyswitch is not in the padlock position.
