Could you please post the content of testscript2.sh?

Ok looks like i got it to work.
The thing is not all events are being shown in the output file.
3105 is not included but 3000 is included

The contents of my testscript contains exactly what you posted. Its kinda hard to understand so i havent modified anything yet.

i think i found the problem

The script only gets the unique IPs for all events then puts them in the appropriate event so if IP1 is used in 2 events, the other event wont have its IP listed. That explains why no IP is repeted in the list of events the script has created.

Yes,
you just need to modify the key of the hash:

Code:
$t{$k,$1}++

Like this:
Code:
#!/usr/bin/perl -nl

/^Event/ and $k = $_;

$t{$k,$1}++ or push @{$_{$k}}, join " ", $1, $2, $3
    if /=<([^>]*)>\s*(\w*)=<([^>]*)/;

END {
      print join $/, $_, @{$_{$_}} for keys %_;
  }

Wow that works great!

Thank you so much for your help. This will save me a lot of time!

A small improvement:

Code:
#!/usr/bin/perl -nl

$k = $_ and next if /^Event/;

$t{ $k, $1 }++ or push @{ $_{$k} }, join " ", /=<([^>]*)>\s*(\w*)=<([^>]*)/;

END {
    print join $/, $_, @{ $_{$_} } for keys %_;
}
