Multiple search in multiple directories

Hi,

I am facing the below problem

I have a list of number to be searched(around 1000) files resideing in multiple directories as i dont know where it resides in. for example

search string is like (abc)123456

please help. very urgent

you can use find command at the top of directories where your files are.

Code:
#find . -type f -print | xargs grep 'pattern to be matched'

Hi,

Thanks a lot but i need to send around 1000 search strings together. Is it possible to pass as a file using the command.

from the manual of my grep command:
Code:
       -f FILE, --file=FILE
              Obtain patterns from FILE, one per line.  The empty file contains zero patterns, and  therefore  matches  nothing.   (-f  is  specified  by
