down and dirty...Alias this command... ls=`ls |awk -F. '{ print $1 }'`

ls |awk -F. '{ print $1 }'


This uses the . as a delimiter... and only prints what is in $1 which occurs before the "." .

I notice you're ignoring Ygor's solution. 2It can be extended like this:

more !(*.txt)

However the only shell with the juice to handle something like that is ksh.

In fact i am developing a file-driven application.

It is trigger by filenames without an extension in a number of folders.

I tried !(*.*) or !(*.txt), but it doesnt work for all shells, and configurations must be made prior deployment. And the SA cannot change the default shell to ksh cause it may break other programs.

Sorry for the confusion.

Plain Text printing issues

I'm attempting to print to a networked konica printer. No linux drivers that I know of exist, but we've always used HP 5si drivers and have had good results. Root emailed me this message and thats ok it is supposed to. The thing that concerns me is that the ADMIN password came in plain text. I Xed it out for the purpose of this message of course.
