Create some settings

Hi,

I've installed mysql and apache servers and made it run in my company's production server. Now what I want to be done is for a notification to be sent to my mail when the servers (mysql and apache) are stopped and not running.

Please help me on doing this.

Tqs.

ok here is the way:

1. for Mysql:
VAR=$(mysql -BNe "select 1;" -u username -p pasword)
And check if $VAR contains 1 or not

2. For apache
VAR=$(lynx -dump "http://127.0.0.1" )
and check if VAR contains data or not. Change 127.0.0.1 to other IP if you apache is not binding all the ports.

You need to have a script which will check these all the time.

Also you can checkout naigios or Big Brother or some software which will monitor for you .

I followed the user guide instructions of Nagios installation and configuration.

All the steps till compiling and installing nagios plugins works, but when I want to start nagios, with the command :

[root@localhost~]#chkconfig --add nagios

I am returned with an error :-

error reading information on service nagios: No such file or directory

Pls help
