is it possible to ssh within an ssh session?
i have a home network in which one computer can be sshed into from the internet. inside this ssh session, i cannot ssh into another computer on the internal network (LAN)
i get the following error:
pseudo-terminal will not be alocated because stdin is not a terminal


any suggestions would be appreciated

Try using -t on the ssh call

-t Tty; allocate a tty even if command is given.

Suggest you look at your firewall rules - see if it's allowed to ssh from one system to the other.

OR

Check the settings in the two systems by getting on console of one server and ssh to the other - then from the other to the first. Test what will work and what won't.

Post the OS of the two systems and more info could be given (such as what files to look at such as /etc/hosts.allow /etc/hosts.deny)

RTM, thanks for the response...
When i SSH into the first computer, it works fine.
within the ssh session of the first computer i try to ssh computer2 and i get that error.

But i just found out it work by one command...

ssh -t firstcomputer ssh secondcomputer

or even


ssh - firstcomputer sftp secondcomputer

My setup is like this:
first computer is connected to the internet directry.
Second computer is on the internal LAN.

That's why i'm trying to figure out a way to ssh or sftp into the second computer on the LAN. is there an easier way?

ssh session getting hung (smilar to hpux telnet session is getting hung after about 15 minutes)

Our network administrators implemented some sort of check to kill idle sessions and now burden is on us to run some sort of keep alive. Client based keep alive doesn't do a very good job. I have same issue with ssh. Does solution 2 provided above apply for ssh sessions also? (1 Reply)

Hello, When I connect to a HP-UX 11.23 and/or 11.31 after a time without activity, the session hang. There is not TMOUT stablished, and the session NOT finish, always keep hang after about 20min of inactivity period. Anyone knows if this problem is related to HP-UX or network... (1 Reply)

could not send commands SSH session with Net::SSH::Expect
