whats the correct software?

Hello everyone,

what is the best program for listening to mp3s and waching .avi videos?

Real Audio has a Linux version. Give that a try. (PS - as for your other question, please refrain from posting the same question multiple times. Also, these sorts of questions wont get any play on these boards - see the rules)

stay away from real player you dont need it ! (that is my opinion of course..) support free software, use XMMS for music and mplayer or xine for videos! you can watch ANY format you can get a codec for (most if not all).

I like mplayer for playing movies..

can play all formats i know of.. Smilie (With the right codes of course!)

hi all, i found NAME=${0##*/} in a script. i given this coomand in my unix box(presently in ksh). echo ${0##*/} it returned ksh. the purpose of the above is to return the shell name or more than that. do you have any more information like this, please share with me. one more query... (7 Replies)

Found this piece of code written in ksh. I have no ideas what do the stuff like ${SRF##*\.} do. SUFFIX=${SRF##*\.} if ; then SUFFIX="" fi I have encountered similar expressions in other programs also. Any pointers on where to learn more about these... (1 Reply)
