Truncate what is It?
what does this command do ? as in [truncate.bi]
does this command just make sure everything in the file is executed?
or does it flush the file?
Actually this is used on a file in a progress database but I believe it is a unix command?

not sure about progress databases but in Oracle, the truncate command is used to remove data from a table. Truncate is different from a delete in one important way, you cannot recover the data once the truncate command is submitted (you cannot rollback) but you can rollback your session after a delete (assuming you havent committed your changes).

truncate
Truncate is a progress command to defragment a progress database.

You can use it like this.

proutil <database_name> -C truncate bi

Make sure you shut down the database before you start the defragmentation.
