Question Cron job to run a command from another dir?
I would like to setup a cron job to run a command from another directory.

What is the best way to do this?

The cron file is in a directory and the script I want it to run is in another directory.

I tried doing this in the cron file:

/location/of/command/run.sh

But that did not work.

Any ideas?

When you say "the cron file is in a directory...", what do you mean by "cron file"?

Provided you have access to run "run.sh" and the script is executable, there is nothing wrong with your logic. Your cronjob can run anything from anywhere, provided you - the user who owns the job - has access to run it.

Define what you mean by "but that doesn't work". Output from cronjobs normally goes to the user's mailbox. Did you check that for errors?

Most problems with crons are filemode/permission problems, in my experience. Try to run the command yourself, as the user running the cron, etc.
