i have problem with cut and print column
problem is i want to execute shell script to run df -h /tmp
if the result ( Use% ) was more than 50% , run rm -rf /tmp/*

I wanted to know the Red Hat Linux command for cumulative disk space usage and the free space as df -h gives used and free space individually for the drives. Or, a command to check free space on the server would also be fine.

I want to use sed to insert one space after the 10'th character in every line.
The lines are on this format:
2012-01-1012:30:55|7323456|65432
2011-02-0313:11:06|1223|3456
......
......
Does anyone know sed well enough to acomplish this?

I need to execute the following command in a script:
/usr/bin/ssh 205.21.1.1 vmware-cmd -v /home/virtual machines//Machine.vmx"createsnapshot Weekly_Backup >/dev/null 2>&1

I have tried this command
cat /etc/passwd | awk -F: '{print$5}'
note that the $5 is the column that displays full name- i.e. Kevin Kambell
