Comparable registry file in UNIX

Hi all,

I am totally new to UNIX. I am currently using converting an existing software package from MFC C++ to wxwindow which allows the software to run under Windows and UNIX. My problem is my existing software package writes to and from the registry. How is this accomplished in UNIX? Is the MIME file the same as a registry file?

Thank you all for your help
Smilie

Unix does not have a centralized application data repository so you should change them to write settings to config files, which are customarily stored in the hidden directories (e.g. ~/.software/settings.cnf) of user home; or /etc for systemwide, default installations.
