Free UNIX account with installation privileges or install Ubuntu

Hello,
I need to install a program that can only be run in unix. I dont have unix on my system. Does anyone know of any free shell accounts with install permissions. I know that there are free shell accounts available on web , but those are without install permission.

Does installing Ubuntu on my system ( dual boot with vista) allow me to run unix commands and install programs like I would do on a unix server?

Thanks,
AC

I can give an account on my machine at home -what program do you need?
The free shell accounts on the Web usually don't have install permissions. You can install Ubuntu parallel to Windows and use under Ubuntu programs that are available in Ubuntu - the program you need may be or not be available in Ubuntu.
If you tell what program do you need I can search for it - if it is available for my distrib, I'll try to install it. My machine won't be available all the time, but when it's available ( it's going t obe day in Amerika) you will be able to login over telnet/ssh, use programs, get help. It would be nice to have contact over ICQ for better coordination.

try cygwin on windows as a unix shell like application.

If you have access to a server or a remote machine, PuTTy will allow you to access the server and run unix applications.

If you need only FTP like applications, try WinSCP, again you will need to have account on a remote system.
