Advise on HP unix

Hi everyone

I need help i want to learn Unix and do some certification on Unix Hp the reason why i choose Hp is because the company that i work for uses HP and interested in knowing a lt more

about what i do i montor the unix server (disk space CPU usage memory utilization,proceeses job failure backup etc )im not hands on on unix.

The reason why i want to learn and be certfied - i want to be more technical than what i am and do, be able to know how to create a disk space how to run the pocceses be able to know each and every aspects happening behind and also want to build a career in unix

i want to know what first step should i take in order to archieve the above
in terms of learning what couses are suitable and what is the first certification should i lokk for

start with a linux of your choice to get some hands on experience with the tools you'll need later to do your work...

- vi
- ssh
- telnet
- cp
- scp
- ftp
- ... (many more)

Thanks duke so in other words you suggest i should start with the basic commands

where did you start with the os you work right now? i think you also started with the basics?! believe it, 90-95% of admin work in unix is checking files, creating files, moving files (and dirs) on a mashine or to another mashine and so on...
