Does locate works with other commands
i cant combine locate with any other..
i write
locate [filename] | grep -L [pattern]
doesnt work

Please read the locate man page i.e. man locate

You could always use locate -r regex filename.

i'm sorry but i read the man and tried regex i really cant make it work.
what did i miss in man locate?

Hi, I am aware of the command locate/slocate. But when I try to search the file which is located in /tmp. Its not able to get it. I tried by updating the database also with the command updatedb.
