UNIX for Dummies Questions & Answers

I am doing exam revision and I have this question can anybody help me answer it?

Write the commands required to export a directory called /home/open from one machine and to mount it onto a directory called /home/something on another machine?
I have done the usual google searchers but still not sure on how to answer it.

Also, what does the following command do, and what do all of the flags stand for?

tar cvf /usr/local/bin

Does it create a tape achieve in /usr/local and then copies all the files and directories that are in the /bin directory into the tape archive that is stored in /usr/local. Again this tar command was taken from a past paper also.

Like that never occurred to me, I tried but the mount question really baffled that's why I asked on here.

The tar command was also a little difficult but I think that I worked it out, but I still ain't 100% sure. That's why I gave an example of my answer to see if any of the clever people on here could tell me if it's right, and if it's wrong then they could point me in the right direction.
